German Cucumber Salad Recipe
This refreshing German Cucumber Salad makes a terrific side dish on its own, or you can add it to your Salatteller.
Use fresh onion, dehydrated onion, or no onion at all...depending on your preference.

- 1 large Salad Cucumber
- 3 Tablespoons Oil I use Safflower
- 2 Tablespoons White Wine Vinegar
- ½ Teaspoon Salt
- ½ Teaspoon Pepper
- Either 4 Tablespoons Dried Onion
- OR
- ½ medium Onion Diced
- 2 Tablespoons chopped Dill
Get Recipe Ingredients
Peel and thinly slice the Cucumber. Place in mixing bowl or serving bowl
In a small bowl, combine the oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper. Whisk together completely (so the salt dissolves… you will feel it).
Add the onion… either dried or fresh… to the cucumber if you like it.
Add the Dill to the cucumber.
Toss the cucumbers with the dressing and serve
If you use an English Cucumber, you can skip the peeling step.
Traditionally cucumbers in the salad get thinly sliced. HOWEVER, when I want it to keep for a little longer, I slice them a little thicker.
