German Easter Candy and Sweets to Fill Your Easter Basket
Years ago, when I was young, we looked forward to receiving packages from my Opa a few times a year. Brown paper wrapped packages, tied up with string (actually twine… but Julie Andrews never mentions twine in her song). They came at Christmas (in the odd year he didn’t visit), our Birthdays, and at Easter. After mama carefully untied the knots and saved the twine for later, then the paper would come off, opening the box we’d take a deep sniff (it smelled of Germany and sweets). The Easter package came packed with German Easter Candy. Egg-shaped chocolates, Haribo Gummis, cookies, alcohol filled Pralines from the adults, and super sweet Fondant Eggs.
Sadly, my Opa is no longer with us, but the flavors and smells of German treats always awaken happy memories of him, and his incredible generosity towards us. Clearly, he knew that All of the best sweets and treats came from Germany. (Of course, his love added an extra touch of sweetness!).
We still try to fill our Easter Baskets with German Candies and Chocolates… and like my Opa, and my Mama, I enjoy gifting them to the people I love.
German Easter Candy- Sweet and Treats
This assortment of German candies for Easter comes from a few different online shops (including the Lebkuchen Schmidt company in Germany). Order soon! Easter will be here before you know it!

Fun for the Breakfast Table
Egg cups and mugs filled with chocolates will be a fun addition to the Easter Breakfast table… and the rest of the year
Easter Treats for the Grown Ups
I love the special candies and treats from Schmidt Lebkuchen (see, they are not JUST for Christmas!). The Almond Splinter Egg looks amazing! The little tins and the tea cup make lovely hostess gifts. And, of course, the liqueur filled chocolates (I order a few of those). The Rumpflaumen seem to be chocolate covered plums that have been sitting in the Rumtopf. YUM!
Dip Eggs are everywhere this year. A Chocolate egg-shaped shell is filled with creamy flavorful filling … or chocolate candy drops. Instead of spooning chocolate or Oreo from a jar, you scoop it from an egg.
Haribo for Easter
Haribo is delicious year round, but in the springtime, Haribo Easter Sweets are on the shelves. Easter mix gummies shaped like chicks, eggs, or flowers. Gummi eggs covered with little pears. And Meringue Eggs, which aren’t gummi, they are more like a candy coated marshmallow.
Dickmann’s Big Eggs
Ohhh! Egg Shaped Schaumkusse! A decorated white chocolate shell covers a marshmallow-ish filling (it’s not really marshmallow… more like a very soft meringue). A real kid favorite, now perfect for Easter!
Milka Gift Baskets and Bags
With these Easter Nests and Gift Bag from Milka, you have all of your favorites in one place. Perfect for gifting, or just open one up and set it on the table to share.
My father likes to nibble on waffle cookies. A crisp baked waffle shell covers a sweet frosting-like filling. At Easter, instead of the standard squares, we give him these Egg shaped waffle cookies. The little eggs are filled with chocolate and cream filling, and some are even dark chocolate covered to balance the sweetness.
Marzipan for Easter
You might notice that Königsberg Marzipan looks different from regular marzipan, that’s because it’s baked to give the top a sort of crispy finish. More like a cookie. The base is the same… almonds, sugar, and rosewater. Königsberger marzipan gets its name from Königsberg, the former German city on the far East end of Prussia. You’ll often find this special treat filled with jam or decorated.
If you prefer a more traditional Marzipan, you will love these marzipan eggs (the ones in cocoa are exactly like marzipan potatoes!)
Decorated and Filled REAL Eggshells!
These fun treats made from REAL eggshells, are filled with a hazelnut chocolate filling. You could hide these special eggs instead of the hard boiled ones (just don’t mix them up!)

Gift Boxes from Schmidt Lebkuchen
Lovely Easter Tins filled with chocolate eggs make a beautiful and thoughtful gift. And the tins could easily be reused year after year. Perfect for storing little memories.
Fondant and Jelly Candies
I know these are not everyone’s favorite (they are SWEET)… but I actually crave them. The dark chocolate helps balance the sugar out. They do look pretty!
More marzipan… this time as a Mozart Kugel. The traditional with layers of marzipan and nougat covered in milk chocolate, and the Princess version with marzipan and raspberry covered in white chocolate.
Zuckerhasen (Sugar Rabbits ) are a piece of sweet nostalgia. The hard sugar candy… either traditional or with a cream flavor mixed in… are pretty to look at, and fun to eat. Find out more about them here.
