-Can’t make it to Germany this year? It turns out there are a few Christkindlmarkts or German Christmas Markets in America and Canada. These markets are a wonderful way to get into the Christmas spirit without the cost of plane fare, you just need a car, or heck, with the money you save, you can take a Limo! Find those treasures from Germany… the Smokers and Pyramids… glass ornaments… even those delicious foods like Gebrannte Mandeln and Wurstchen (Sugar Almonds and Sausages).

German American Cultural Society of Rhode Island Each December, the GACS hosts an annual Christkindlmarkt (Christmas market). Our event attempts to recreate a small version of a traditional German Christmas market and we feature local artisans and craftsmen and women selling a large variety of gifts. We also offer our guests traditional food and drink offerings, including the famous Gluhwein (mulled wine).

Alaska!! We just celebrated our second annual Alaska Christkindlmarkt, hosted by Rilke Schule German School of Arts & Sciences in Anchorage. It’s on the second Saturday of December each year and features imported German decorations and other goods, local artists & vendors, as well as German delicacies from our Bakers Guild.
This year, December 2019, we will being hosting our 2nd annual German Christmas Market in historic Amherst, New Hampshire. December 7, 10am-8pm, and December 8, 10am-3pm at the Wigwam Museum and along Middle Street. Last year we started small- it was a success, and we are hoping it will grow bigger and better every year! We are planning a German-inspired outdoor Christmas market Sat Dec 10, 10am-7pm, 2 Main St., Amherst, New Hampshire. Admission is free. This is the first official year- it’s a new non-profit, 100% volunteer-run event. There will be a craft fair, with a couple vendors selling European imports, a mini-beer garden, food trucks, live music, Santa, and more! We hope to add more authentic elements as we grow in future years. Please support us as we create this new cultural event for all to enjoy!
