Every year we bring out a new Ravensburger Christmas Puzzle to work on during the days and nights leading up to Christmas. A table is set up, and the pieces are sorted (edge verses middle)… and off we go. Ravensburger …the German company based in Ravensburg… makes high quality puzzles with beautiful Christmas images. They hold up well to lots of sorting and piecing (without coming apart). And we generally choose a 1000 or 2000 piece puzzle to keep us busy for a few days.
There are cheers when difficult pieces are found… good-natured ribbing when someone can’t find a specific piece, and there are jeers when someone (you know who you are) keeps the lid (and picture) to themselves.
A Ravensburger Christmas Puzzle is a great activity to get everyone together around a table. People can drop in and out as they wish. Some people might want to pull up a chair and really work it, others might want to just drop by and find a piece or two. (And of course, we have a mystery middle of the night puzzler with insomnia who sneaks pieces in when everyone else is sleeping).
My mom is the ringleader of the puzzling.. she is determined to get it done (as if we’d ever miss) and the glory of putting in the last piece ALWAYS goes to her…. Now she’s pulling my girls into the excitement (yes, puzzles are a kind of excitement… it’s a quiet excitement).
Every year we choose a new image, there is definitely a puzzle for every style… every year we have fun… and every year we finish a new Ravensburger Christmas puzzle.
Who is Ravensburger?
Ravensburger is a German Company that has been making Paper Products like folders for offices since the 1880s in Ravensburg. By 1884, they started producing games. Ravensburger continued operations even through World War I & II, even though part of their factory was destroyed by bombs, and their production shifted to games and books. In 1962, they started producing puzzles! They are known for their beautiful images and high quality pieces. More recently they have created Soft-Lock Technology which means you can actually hear the pieces “click” together when you have the perfect fit. (No more POUNDING the piece to make it fit). Notably, Ravensburger holds the world’s Record for largest puzzle on the market, the 40,320 piece Disney Puzzle!

Ravensburger Christmas Puzzle
Our family LOVES Ravensburger Christmas Puzzles. The puzzles arrive during Advent, so we are ready to go in the days leading up the Christmas. (We start before or on Christmas, depending on family schedules!) A card table is left up so we can work on it over days without interfering with the rest of the celebrations. (Honestly, fighting over “who has the blue pieces” and “why are you hogging the box” is much nicer than politics. )
